The Mexican government
is in charge of
seeing that the Constitution is enforced. In addition, it makes the laws,
watches over the environment and promotes culture.
The Constitution was the most
important law made up by Mexicans Its rules and regulations tell
Mexicans how to behave, how to live together, and how to find solutions to our
problems. It also should be the way the Government functions.
The government
is a representative government
because the people elect other people to represent the public. It is democratic because the citizens
participate in electing the ruler.
Article 49 of
the Constitution divides the government into three branches:
1.The Legislative
2. The Executive,
3. The Judicial System
- The Legislative Branch makes the laws,
discussing the country's problems and overseeing the actions of the other
branches. The Legislative Branch is also called the Congress of the Union. It is made up of 500 Representatives and
128 Senators.
- The Executive
branch is where the President comes into play. The President is in charge of the
Army, the
Navy and the Air Force. He can declare war on other countries, but to do so he needs the
authorization of Congress. Department of Health, Department of Labour and the
Department of Tourism are examples of departments in the executive
branch.
- The Judicial System is in charge of seeing that
the Constitutional laws are enforced.
